Lab Assistant – Annemarie Christiansen

Hey!

My name is Annemarie, and I’m a junior here at Knox, studying a double major in History and Spanish. I enjoy spending time with my friends and exploring new things when I’m here at Knox – such as going rollerblading, watching new TV shows/movies together, and just driving around and seeing new things. Currently, everyone seems to agree the most on fantasy and rom-coms, which is always fun. On campus, I’m part of Book House, String Arts Club, and now the Abolition Lab. When I’m at home I love hanging out with my dogs (Hazel and Dolly) and lizards (Marvin and Winston), going to new restaurants with my family, and reading. I love doing things just for the bit, and I have a habit of doing something to the fullest extent possible if I’m going to give it a try.

Most of my history knowledge resides in European history and the occasional section of US history that I can remember. I’m hoping working in the lab will give me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and delve deeper into various parts of history (especially areas I wouldn’t have pegged as something I’d be interested in. I wanted to be a part of the Abolition Lab for a variety of reasons; I’m passionate about history and making it more tangible and available to people, and I think it’s a great addition to the resources Knox has available to students and staff alike. I can’t wait to work with both some of my friends and fellow classmates, as well as various excellent professors in this Lab. I look forward to  supporting students as they explore everything Knox and history in general have to offer them, and I can’t wait to see what creative things future students come up with!
