Get Out the Vote!

In PHIL 295: Digital Ethics, students investigated how digital technologies like Big Data and microtargeting are harnessed for pernicious new methods of voter suppression. These “deterrence campaigns” often target groups that are historically disenfranchised in the U.S. and elsewhere with anti-voting messaging. For this project, students created an original piece of digital content that counters this attempted voter suppression in a compelling and informative way. They were charged with making something simple, memorable, and informative. Media could be educational and/or motivational in tone and purpose, and could address disenfranchisement efforts in a U.S. context or other cultural context.

Students produced original and creative posters to inform and counter digital modes of voter suppression. Browse their projects below!
